I am starting a blog because I love writing and books, and I know a lot of teens have the same interests. As a writer, I love books. I read them, hug them and occasionally throw them across the room in frustration. I often review books on YWC because I want you to read them in all their awesomeness.

I’m definitely not a tween, although most would say I still act like one. Thanks for stopping by my blog, Sam. I’m with you. I teach creative writing to all ages and some people would be amazed by what my younger students are capable of writing. I prefer working with younger students anyway, because of their openness and vivid imaginations. And tweens are a great audience to write for because of their enthusiasm.

I’m so glad you like YWC. I don’t post the work of others on my blog but I can point you to several communities intended for teen writers. First, I recommend looking at the website Figment. There’s also Young Writers Online and from one of my favorite blogs for teen writers, there is a private Facebook group called Go Teen Writers.
Locally, if you attend some classes for teen writers, you may find that other teens are willing to read your work and critique it. Good luck!

So, I checked out Figment and Young Writers Online (I don’t have a Facebook account)and both seem interesting. I’ve encountered one dilemma: I like Figment better, but you have to be thirteen to join. I’m twelve. Do you think I should join anyway, since my birthday is in October? Or should I wait, or join Young Writers Online?
I was also wondering if you could do a post comparing and contrasting online websites to submit writing to, like Figment and Young Writers Online, so other young writers (like me and Mary–hi Mary!) have some sort of idea about which one is better for them.

From what I’ve seen, Young Writers Online is more for writing questions and advice than for posting your work. For Figment, I think you should show the site to your parents and ask if they think it is appropriate. I think that’s a great idea to do a post on it. I’ll let you know if/when I do. Good luck!

I started my blog in April and I think I received approximately 4 page views in that entire month. I’m doing better now. I think the best thing to do is to blog regularly (at least once a week, preferably more) and comment on blogs that are similar to yours. Include your blog address in the comment. I think I’m getting more views because I do this frequently on the website Go Teen Writers. Good luck!

Hi Sam. I have to say I’ve been a bit busy lately and haven’t had the time to read and comment on your blog. I like your post about non-fiction; it makes it sound a lot more likeable, although (and I’m very sorry) I will most likely never write non-fiction. To me it is boring, boring, and, oh yeah, boring.
I like your website a lot and find it very informative, but you call it Young Writers Café, which to me implies that you are a young writer and this website is about writing. To get to my point, I think you should add some of your own stories/pieces/articles.
Please put my request into consideration. Keep on having a totally cool blog!

I will have to think about putting up short excerpts but lately, I am in a writing slump and I am reading a lot if ARCs that I have already promised to review. I also write for a couple mags and I can’t exactly post that content. I will have to think about it though!
